LayOut export

Export… in the Project palette footer runs the whole pipeline: it regenerates the scenes you ask for, then writes a .layout file with one page per scene.

Export

Click Export….
Choose the scale and the sheet size.
Tick which scenes to generate — plans, elevations, sections.
Confirm.

Each page gets a viewport at the chosen scale, locked so that resizing the viewport does not silently rescale the drawing. Rendering is hybrid — vector for the lines, raster where it has to be.

Two requirements

After a rename

Viewports point at scenes by name. Rename a storey afterwards and its scene is renamed too, which leaves that viewport orphaned — relink it in LayOut, or export again.

Settle your storey names before the first export and this never comes up.

Annotation belongs here

Archeform stops at geometry: hatching, outlines, 2D symbols, section marks. It does not attempt drawing-quality text.

The reason is a hard SketchUp limitation. Text objects cannot be styled through the API — no font, no size, no colour — and line weight per tag does not exist at all. Dimensions, notes and title blocks are therefore not something a SketchUp extension can do properly.

LayOut can: fonts, weights, dash patterns, hatched fills, text styling. So Archeform hands over a correctly scaled, correctly cut drawing, and the annotation happens where the tools are.

Generating annotations as native LayOut entities during export is on the roadmap — the maths is straightforward for a parallel scene, and it would carry dimensions too.

They register at start-up. Install or update, then restart SketchUp.
