Walls
A wall is a group carrying an axis, a thickness and a justification. Its geometry is recomputed from those, which is why corners stay mitred when you move something.
If you have not drawn one yet, start with Your first wall.
Ways to draw one
Section titled “Ways to draw one”| Wall on the toolbar | click a chain of points |
| Wall from Lines | turn existing straight edges into walls |
Select the edges, right-click, Archeform → Wall from Lines, and they are all converted in one operation. With nothing selected, start it from Plugins → Archeform → Tools and click edges one at a time. Only straight horizontal edges qualify; anything else highlights but refuses.
Justification
Section titled “Justification”| Center | you draw the centre line |
| Left | you draw the left face, along the drawing direction |
| Right | you draw the right face |
Left and right follow the direction you draw, not the world. Draw the same wall backwards and they swap.
It is Baseline in the dialog. For new walls, set it before drawing — double-click Wall on the toolbar; it cannot be switched mid-chain. For an existing wall, change it in Wall Properties — the wall recomputes its faces from the axis, so the axis stays put and the faces move.
Corners
Section titled “Corners”Two walls sharing an endpoint mitre automatically, and stay mitred when either one moves. There is nothing to maintain.
Joint toggles that corner between mitre and butt. The wall you click is the one that gets cut back; its neighbour runs through. Click again to go back.
All the wall editing tools are in the same place: select a wall, right-click, Archeform → Wall Tools.
T-joints: Extend and Trim
Section titled “T-joints: Extend and Trim”Where a wall meets another one in the middle rather than at a corner:
| Extend | run a short wall out to meet another |
| Trim | cut an overshooting wall back at another |
With Trim, where you click matters: click near the end that should disappear. The wall is cut so it doesn’t enter the other one at all.
Moving and reshaping
Section titled “Moving and reshaping”| Stretch | drag a whole wall; walls joined to it follow |
| Stretch End | drag one end along its own axis |
| Offset | parallel copy at a distance you type or drag |
Stretch End detaches the end from whatever it was joined to — that is what it is for. Stretch keeps the joints and drags the neighbours with it.
Offset resolves the corners of the new run for you. Offset a whole chain by the same distance and the copies mitre against each other; where a copy meets an original, it stops cleanly at its face instead of overshooting.
Gable walls
Section titled “Gable walls”To Roof pulls the top of a wall up to the underside of a roof, so it closes the gable.
Click one or more walls, then click the roof. The profile is frozen at that moment — change the roof later and use the tool again, or Remove Roof Extension from the right-click menu to undo it.
Parameters
Section titled “Parameters”| Field | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Thickness | 300 mm | changing it holds the centre of the faces |
| Height | 3 000 mm | from the base of the wall |
| Baseline | Center | recomputes the faces from the axis |
| Composition | none | layered build-up, drawn in sections |
| Exterior side | Left | which face the first layer of the composition sits on |
| Section fill | by type | hatch used where the wall is cut |
Select several walls and the dialog edits them together. Name, tag and description stay per-wall so you don’t end up with duplicates — which the model check would then flag.
In IFC and in drawings
Section titled “In IFC and in drawings”Exports as IfcWall with Qto_WallBaseQuantities and Pset_WallCommon. If the
wall carries a composition, the layers export as IfcMaterialLayerSet — see
Material layers.
In plan the wall is cut and hatched. With a composition, each layer gets its own hatch, and where a partition meets it, the layers stop according to their priority instead of running through.
